Help With Anxiety
A question beneath a video on my Facebook Page…
I have a question if it's OK to ask, question being when feeling great energy related to anxiety I just say to myself I'm just going to allow this energy to pass through me and then relax into and visualise the passing through and out of me. What are your thoughts on this. Thank you 🙏
It sounds good to me, recognising as well that anxiety is a defence mechanism imaging danger where there might not be any, yet is still attempting to keep you safe. Not waiting for it to pass, not needing it to pass can make the whole thing more powerful, since there would be less resistance to support the anxiety in this case. Does it work for you? If it works, then that's great. Anxiety is hard to defeat and wrestle to the ground. The best antidotes I've come across are a lack of resistance as you alluded to, perhaps combined with a focus on any feelings akin to security or strength when the anxiety is not there. How we are feeling or what we are focussing on when the anxiety ISN'T there has a tremendous effect on the stored anxiety that can flare up from time to time. I hope that can help. Adam.
Didn't give the video (click here to watch) the justice it deserves 1st time round Adam but having watched it a couple of times since I realise it's so easy with anxiety to always be focused on ( conscious or unconsciously ) the negative thoughts , feelings and emotions . I have also done what the person you refer to has done to focus on the feeling and ignore thoughts . But if we can find in our memory banks a good feeling or memory, just something that comforts us and brings a feeling of safety or love , maybe just maybe if we meditate on these things we may tip the scales in our favour . Yes, I think so. It goes a bit against the obsession with "being present" that can sometimes arise in spiritual mentalities, but really it is all a bridge into the best possible now, where thoughts and memories can be let go of if desired. Glad it's been helping 🙏. Adam.
